Dr Devolent Mtui is a researcher at the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) and a specialist in lepidoptera. She has extensive knowledge of the forests in the Eastern Arc Mountains in Tanzania where she collected a new butterfly species that is named after her, Charaxes mtuiae. Her recent work includes leading an initiative funded by JRS Biodiversity Foundation to assess the impacts of climate change on montane forest pollinators at a landscape level in the Eastern Arc Mountain forests.
Watson Matamwa is a soil scientist at the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute in Uyole in the south of the country. He has substantial expertise in sustainable agricultural practices, farmer participatory research, training and community engagement. He has represented his district in a National Learning Alliance on Climate Change and is currently playing a key role in a nationwide Digital Soil Fertility Mapping initiative. He is interested in issues of water sharing and water quality and their relationship with environmental conservation.
