In November 2023, the renowned Odonata specialist KD Dijkstra visited the Amani Forest Nature Reserve in Tanzania. During his visit he met with staff from Amani Friends of Nature (AFON) and visited the stream where the IUCN red-listed Amani Flatwing damselfy (Amanipodagrion gilliesi) is found. Although it was early in the season when adults of the species are known to emerge, KD Dijkstra was able to confirm its presence. He was also pleased to see two other endemic Odonata species at the same stream. This highlights the importance of conserving the stream and the habitat around it and confirms the importance of the work done by AFON with support from Live Streams.
